Shambles Thursday ::: Non Shambles Edition

Tigers, it's come to this. The day I leave for the longest vacation I will have ever taken in my life. It's Thursday, and despite having to deal with TSA and the airline industry, I don't think this day can turn shambly for me because I only have a half day of work and then NO WORK for a long, long time.

I'll miss you, my ferocious friends, but not so badly that I'm taking a computer with me. For that, I only mildly apologize and leave this with you:

  • My WonderTwin will have a birthday and for him, I will have a Belgian brew.
  • My brother will have a birthday and for him, I will have a Belgian brew.
  • The June Extraordinary Chickens will be unveiled by my WonderTwin. They are in good hands. For the chickens, I will have a Belgian brew.
Many well wishes to you, may your middle-to-end-of-May be awesome. See you in June.

Freedom to Serve, Freedom to Marry

I'm not going to say much about this video [below]. Not a lot needs to be said. Just watch it, and if you are of the opinion that gays and lesbians are not second class citizens, put yourself in the shoes of someone simply looking for information about your spouse. Imagine, now, if they were at war, fighting for your freedoms [as we tend to say a lot], protecting YOU, and you still could not find information and you know that a lack of communication can't mean a good thing. DOMA needs to end.

Yeah. Tiger Tuesday.

Honestly. Would you look at this guy?

Bicycling, Mother's Day, Europe

I did a bunch of biking on Saturday. Some was for the purpose of grocery shopping, some was for fun. I don't want to talk about the part where I specifically biked to a place for one item, then forgot to buy that item. Don't want to talk about it. STOP ASKING.

After I got home, I decided to put the groceries away and go back out to take advantage of the nice weather. Above is a shot from the Point where I relaxed for a while before making the trip back home. I've decided to name my bike Le Tigre for her wily and quick ways. Also, she has a "Happily Semi-Rad" sticker on her now and this pleases me greatly.

Yesterday we took advantage of the Blossom Tour despite the rain. Then we went out to my parents' to cook my mom [and dad] dinner and drop off Dmitri for our trip. Shockingly, I didn't ruin 7 chicken breasts on the grill in the rain. We'll call it a Mother's Day miracle.

I miss my little boy already, but he'll do really well at Gramm-an-grampas. And anyway, hKL and I need to take a vacation where we're in charge of the schedule and where we go and what we do. We are not taking a computer on the vacation, so I will not be blogging [control your tears!], but I promise to share some photos when I get back.

The itinerary:
Brussels
Amsterdam
Berlin
Cologne
Bruges

A sidenote, this isn't intentional, but we're visiting the first two countries to adopt marriage equality [the Netherlands, 2001 and Belgium, 2003]. It's been more than a decade in the Netherlands and no second coming yet! America, we'll give you notes upon our return.
